This article is brought to you by Retail Technology Review: IMS Evolve and Lenovo join forces to deliver scalable & more secure enterprise IoT solutions.

Internet of Things (IoT) company, IMS Evolve, and multinational technology company, Lenovo, have announced a collaboration to globally deliver edge IoT solutions to the retail sector at speed and scale.

The joint solutions bring together the IMS Evolve IoT Platform – a powerful solution for turning machine data into actionable insight – and Lenovo’s new ThinkCentre M90n Nano IoT, Light Industrial PC, and EPC300 Fully Integrated Edge PC, to deliver immediate, digitally transformed value for food retailers.

With these integrated solutions, IMS Evolve is delivering huge operational efficiencies by enabling retailers to unlock, collate and manage data from assets across their estate using Lenovo’s latest Smart Edge devices. By providing processing capacity on premise, the collection, management and automation of data is executed at the edge and contextualised alongside other relevant data to optimise maintenance regimes, inform buying decisions and identify opportunities for additional efficiency gains.

“The IMS Evolve IoT Platform is much more than simply a data visualisation tool, it dynamically transacts with underlying infrastructure to affect change, delivers high degrees of automation and makes direct adjustments through read/write capabilities,” explains Jason Kay, Chief Commercial Officer, IMS Evolve. “It can be applied to existing legacy equipment which allows for fast deployment and requires a low investment hurdle that enables rapid return on investment. The combined power of Lenovo’s Smart Edge devices and the IMS Evolve IoT platform brings the benefits of access to large volumes of new data without the traditional cost of ownership and delivers the digital sophistication and fast return that retailers are constantly pursuing."

In a market sector known for its fine cost margins, grocery and food retailers have been dealing with the added challenges brought about by COVID-19 which sent shockwaves through the food retail eco-system. These challenges, in turn, have created an environment poised for innovation as retailers search for ways to support bettering food quality, improve their bottom line, re-align supply chains and redefine how technology can help to transform their processes. With the market for digital transformation technologies in the retail sector expected to grow by $125 Billion USD over the next four years, the collaboration between IMS Evolve and Lenovo addresses clear customer demand.

“This solution brings together the sophisticated analytics and automation of the IMS Evolve software with Lenovo’s robust and flexible SmartEdge solution portfolio suite to connect the physical and digital worlds in the most efficient and effective way possible,” Tom Hurlbut, General Manager, OEM Commercial Smart Devices Solutions Group from Lenovo explains there is a tremendous opportunity in this partnership. “The solution has been proven worldwide within the world’s leading organisations, and with the data acquisition, analytics and automation in one platform, once the solution is deployed and releasing value, our retail clients can be left to do what they do best – focus on their customers.”
